CPR Instructor Renewal - Heartsaver
Date/Time: Tue 10/21/2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM
Location: SCCAD HQ - SALT RIVER
Class Price: $80.00

This Heartsaver CPR Instructor Renewal Course is designed to recertify existing Heartsaver Instructors who have met the requirements to continue teaching all "Heartsaver CPR and First Aid" classes (not BLS classes).

Make sure your current instructor card reads, "Heartsaver" Instructor. If it is labeled "BLS" Instructor, this is not the course you need.

Course Prerequisites:

  • Be accepted into an AHA Training Center**
  • A current AHA Heartsaver Instructor card*
  • Verification of teaching at least 4 classes during the previous certification period. This is an AHA requirement!
  • Registered with the AHA Atlas website
    • You must bring your Instructor ID # to class. If you have forgotten your number, call 1-800-242-8721. Do not create a new instructor account!
    • NOTE: Before coming to class, you MUST log into your new Atlas account and complete/update your profile. Use your old "AHA Instructor Network" login information (Atlas has replaced the Instructor Network as of August 2023). Complete any tasks listed on your Atlas dashboard, make sure your email address is up-to-date, and ensure all of your disciplines are present (e.g., BLS, HeartCode, ACLS, etc., as relevant). This is absolutely critical, as the new Atlas system will not allow us to process your new instructor card until you have completed these tasks.

Instructor candidates are responsible for acquiring their own instructor and provider manuals (must be the latest edition, having the new guidelines). THE INSTRUCTOR MANUALS MUST BE BROUGHT TO CLASS IN ORDER FOR YOU TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR RE-CERTIFICATION.

The required books for a Heartsaver instructor are:

  • Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Instructor Manual 2020 - Item #: 20-1130.    ISBN: 978-1-61669-831-7
  • Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Student Workbook 2020 - Item #: 20-1126 ISBN: 978-1-61669-827-0  (optional)
  • Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Student Workbook 2020 - Item #: 20-1124 ISBN: 978-1-61669-825-6  (optional)
  • Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Instructor Manual 2020 -  Item #: 20-1122   ISBN: 978-1-61669-823-2

Manuals may be purchased at ShopCPR.Heart.org

 Successful Completion:

  • Complete all prerequisites
  • Attend the instructor renewal course
  • Demonstrate provider skills
  • Pass the instructor written examination
  • Successfully evaluate another instructor candidate

Course recognition is 2 years from the date of the classroom course. The instructor card supersedes the provider card.

** If you do not plan to teach primarily within St. Charles County (i.e., approx. 90% of your classes), you will need to be aligned as an instructor with a different AHA training center prior to attending the class.

** When you come to class, please have your Training Center's address and the name of their TC Coordinator. If you are aligned with a different Training Center, it is your responsibility to ensure that your Primary TC approves of you attending one of our instructor classes.

INSTRUCTORS ALIGNED WITH RC HEALTH SERVICES: If RC Health Services is your Primary AHA Training Center, you cannot attend this instructor course and must contact your TC Coordinator to find an alternative location. We apologize for the inconvenience.
